It appears as though Demi Lovato won’t be starring in the upcoming NBC sitcom Hungry, according to Deadline. It was announced in January 2021 that the singer and actress would star in the show alongside Valerie Bertinelli.
Demi Lovato Will Not Be A Part of Upcoming Sitcom “Hungry” Cast
Lovato was announced as an executive producer and will remain linked to the show in that capacity. The decision comes as the project is slated to begin filming the pilot. As to how Hungry will move forward, Lovato’s role will be recast posthaste as to not push filming to a later date. In talking with Deadline, sources said that Lovato’s exit from the role is a result of their own schedule.
Hungry is about a tight knife group of friends who are in a food issues group. As it’s a sitcom, expect dives into relationships and definitely shenanigans. As you can tell, there isn’t a ton about the show’s premise at the moment. Also, sitcoms can be harder to explain unless it has something that really sets it apart from the sitcoms before it and the ones yet to premiere.
Hot in Cleveland creator Suzanne Martin will handle the writing for the show and serve as an executive producer alongside Demi Lovato. There’s also no debut for Hungry at the moment but since there is a “put pilot” deal in place, this isn’t a project that will be shelved since NBC could owe money if it doesn’t make it to air. While TV shows can premiere any time of the year, fall is often the goal unless it premieres via streaming.
For the Demi Lovato fans put there: will you be watching Hungry even if they’re not starring in the show or is this a miss? To our TV fans: Is this a show that piques your interest or will this show be a skip for you?
