Heidi, for her part, is well known for being on the hit TV show ‘The Hills.’ And it is safe to say that her TV career has outshined her music one. Rather than paying homage to Lady Gaga, who clearly has one of the biggest singing careers of all time, Heidi was not too fond of her.
She admitted that they both butted heads during the course of their interactions and work alongside producer RedOne. It is here when the producer wanted Lady Gaga’s permission to allow Heidi to release the track ‘Fashion,’ since she had written it.
But after granting Heidi the permission, things started to change quickly when the film ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic” wanted to use Gaga’s soundtrack.
In a statement, Heidi said: “[Gaga goes]. ‘No, I’m pulling that song, and I’m recording it. It’s not Heidi’s anymore.’”
Regardless of what you think about Gaga, the fact that she did write this ultimately does give her leeway when it comes to its usage. But it is one thing going back on an agreement and another thing entirely if somebody decides to cut all ties.
And this is what seemed to have happened when Heidi suggested that Gaga demanded that RedOne stop working with her. And given that RedOne had a writing relationship with Gaga, it is not surprising to hear that he stayed loyal to her.
Heidi added: “He [RedOne] was like, ‘I’m sorry, she’s [Gaga’s] my writing partner for huge things.’” It is not clear what Heidi’s career would have turned out to be had she performed that song.
It takes more than a hit song to become a superstar, given that Gaga is also a fashion icon. Not only that, who is to say that Heidi would have done the song justice.
In hindsight, it is easy to say that Gaga had destroyed her career. But it could equally be argued that if Heidi was such a talented musician, then why did she not write her own songs.
