Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez remains behind bars, but his old friends in the organization still support him. Joe Rogan, Michael Bisping, and Colby Covington, among others, have expressed their support for Velasquez’s actions.
Velasquez faces multiple charges, including first-degree attempted murder, after he allegedly shot at a man charged with molesting a member of Velasquez’s family.
Joe Rogan and Colby Covington Support Cain Velasquez: “You Could Only Imagine the Rage”
On The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan and his guest Michael Bisping discussed the legal issue. Joe Rogan began “You could only imagine the rage, the f****** rage that must have been going through that man’s mind.
I mean, my only wish is that he did it with his hands. My only wish is that he just ran that car off the road, pulled that guy out of the f****** car, and beat him to death. F*** you.” To which Bisping replied: “And even that would have been too good for him.”
Velasquez was arrested when he confronted Harry Eugene Goularte, who was charged with molesting a member of Velasquez’s family at a day care run by Goularte’s mother. Police said that Velasquez pursued Goularte in a high-speed car chase over eleven miles through San Jose, ramming Goularte’s truck and firing at him with a .40 caliber pistol. Goularte’s stepfather, 63, was wounded by the gunfire.
Of Goularte, Joe Rogan said: “That is a sickness. There’s like a certain sickness that people have, that human beings have, sicknesses of the mind. But that one, molesting a f****** baby? A four-year-old is like a baby.
The molesting children is the sickest of all of those sicknesses.” Colby Covington, fresh off the back of his dominant decision win over Jorge Masvidal, used the UFC 272 post-fight press conference to echo his support for Cain Velasquez’s actions.
“Let’s talk about Cain Velasquez. Free Cain, man. What he did, a lot of people wouldn’t have done the same thing, but I respect the s*** out of him.
I mean, having your kid be molested, we talk about that all the time, that we would do [what Velasquez did]. But he was in that situation, and he actually did it. So free Cain, much respect and love, and I hope you get out soon.”
Velasquez remains behind bars. Goularte’s stepfather is still wounded from the gunshot. It’s unclear what will happen to Goularte in the wake of these actions. Where do you stand on the Cain Velasquez shooting? Let us know in the comments.
