Logan Paul remains steadfast in his support for his brother Jake. The highlight of the YouTuber’s boxing career thus far was a largely uneventful novelty bout against Floyd Mayweather, but Jake Paul has made much more of spectacle by engaging UFC president Dana White in an ongoing feud about, among other things, fighter pay within the world’s largest MMA promotion.
Logan told The MMA Hour that, although he’s still a fan of Dana White’s, when it comes to this one, he’s on Jake’s side.
Logan Paul Dishes on His Brother’s Dana White Feud
“Jake vs. Big Dana. It’s tough because I like Dana a lot, I always have. I was a fan of Dana and he’s always been good to me. He calls me before the fights and offers me tickets, and now my brother is ‘motherf***ing’ him and his business and I’m like, damn.
Obviously I’ve gotta side with my brother and as a viewer I’m very entertained. I think it’s really funny and I also think that he’s doing a good thing. I think he’s doing a really good thing because he’s a kid who is vocal about a situation I believe is important — fighter pay — and the people who should be speaking up can’t because they’re in a bit of a vice grip from Dana.
So Jake ain’t employed by Dana, he can do whatever he wants. And as loud and obnoxious as he is sometimes, he’s actually doing dope s*** for combat sports, and I think in 3-5 years, people are gonna realize how significant he was in changing the landscape of the sport.”
These comments echo those Jake Paul has made about himself, but thus far neither Paul brother has truly changed the sporting landscape. Jake’s undefeated boxing record includes another YouTuber, a basketball player, and recently retired wrestlers Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.
Paul is currently busy promoting a women’s superfight between undefeated Irish boxer Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. Jake Paul’s capacity to promote a top-tier women’s boxing match to the masses – when, historically, women’s boxing has largely been overshadowed by men’s – will likely define the next steps he takes in his self-proclaimed mission to make a lasting positive impact in combat sports.
Despite their claims otherwise, it seems the Paul brothers remain interested primarily in spectacle and novelty. Logan, for example, wants his brother to take on some of the biggest names in the fight game, albeit those on a losing streak.
“I’d love to see him fight Nate Diaz and then eventually Conor McGregor. I think that’d be such a cool fight.” Where do you stand on Dana White vs Jake Paul? Let us know in the comments.
