The landscape of AEW has changed a lot since it’s early days – but many of the names who started the company are still around. This includes Kip Sabian, who was one half of the first singles match in AEW’s history – where he defeated Sammy Guevara on the Buy-In for Double Or Nothing 2019.
While Guevara would go on to become a two time TNT Champion, and has headlined PPV events – Kip Sabian faded into the background of AEW. He’s been out of the ring for over a year due to injury, but is finally ready to make his long awaited return to action.
Kip Sabian Has Been Hidden In Plain Sight For Months Now
Taking to Twitter, Sabian would have the following to say.
I think it’s coming up on the time The Forgotten One should get back to work.
For the past few months, Kip Sabian has been on AEW programming – and most fans haven’t noticed. If you’ve ever been watching AEW Dynamite, Rampage or Dark – and noticed someone in the crowd wearing a cardboard box on their head? That’s been Kip Sabian.
With an hourglass on the side, and the words “Underrated” & “Over It” on the front, a message was clearly being sent by the 29 year old. Even before his injury, he was slipping down the card – mainly just being a launching point for Miro in AEW – a man he brought in to be the Best Man during the wedding of Kip Sabian & Penelope Ford.
With a growing roster, and the likes of Keith Lee, Swerve Strickland, Tony Nese, Adam Cole, CM Punk, and Bryan Danielson all having made their debuts since Sabian was injured during Arcade Anarchy, it will be harder than ever for someone to stand out. Roster bloat is a major issue for AEW, who only have three hours of TV a week to showcase 100+ talents.
However, Sabian is young and full of potential – and has had a year to come up with plans for his return. It will take something big – but if anyone can pull this off, it’s Sabian.
