Leonardo DiCaprio seldom posts on social media, but he made the decision to do so in order to express his feelings on the Russia-Ukraine War.
Leonardo DiCaprio Draws Attention To The Plight Of The Ukrainian People Amid The War-‘The Victims Of Warfare In Ukraine Have Lost Everything’
This post arrives on the back end of reports that the actor had made a donation to a humanitarian organisation to aid Ukrainian refugees.
While the exact number remained undisclosed, the fact that the actor had gone out of his way to give back demonstrated sincerity.
And in his following social media post, Leo did not hold back on the need for people to come together to stop the suffering. In a post to his fans on Instagram, Leo shared a series of pictures showing children being displaced as a result of the war.
The post was captioned by the following comments: “The victims of warfare in Ukraine have lost everything from their loved ones to basic materials for survival.
“Humanitarian organizations like @SavetheChildren @careorg @IRC and @refugees are on the ground, dedicating their personnel and resources to support families and innocent people.”
Leo follows in the long line of celebrities that have decided to take action in this regard. Other celebrities include Aston Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Bethenny Frankel to name a few.
But outside of this, Leo has always shown a willingness to tackle social justice issues. This has most notably been seen as a result of his work on environmentalism by speaking out about the importance of stopping the negative consequences of climate change.
And this insistence on trying to make a difference was something that was welcomed on social media. Large numbers of fans came out in droves to show that they were fully behind Leo’s work.
One person wrote: “@LeoDiCaprio Mr. DiCaprio we greatly appreciate you supporting Ukraine in these trying times. Thank you on behalf of the Odesa Territorial Defence!”
It is great to see Leo using his influence in a positive way. And hopefully this leads to more people coming forward and donating to various humanitarian organisations, as well as taking up the opportunities to volunteer.
