For the past thirty years, AAA has been running an annual showcase of Lucha Libre – known as Triplemania. There’s been a lot of ups and downs throughout the years, but they’re determined to pull off a massive card for the thirtieth anniversary of the event – and have called for some outside stars. As per usual, Tony Khan & AEW were quick to lend some of their top stars for this show.
The Young Bucks, Sammy Guevara, Tay Conti & Andrade El Idolo Set To Show Up At Triplemania
While former AAA Mega Champion Kenny Omega is still out of the picture, AEW has set up some major appearances for this event. Former AAA Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks will be there, facing El Hijo Del Vikingo and Rey Fenix.
Tay Conti & Sammy Guevara will make their mixed tag team debut in a triple threat tag team match, taking on the duos of Sexy Star & Octagon Jr. and Maravilla & Latigo. Andrade El Idolo will take on Pagano, Bandido & Taya as he teams with Deonna Purazzo & Cibernetico.
Kenny Omega has promised to return to AAA once he’s healthy again, but is still working on repairing the laundry list of injuries he suffered over the past few years.
AEW & AAA Have Had A Very Strong Working Relationship Since Before The Forbidden Door Talks
When you think about partnerships that AEW has built, New Japan Pro Wrestling comes to mind – they’ve been working alongside AAA for even longer. Kenny Omega was AAA Mega Champion since the early days of AEW, which certainly helped to build a connection.
Right now, FTR remain the AAA World Tag Team Champions, having won the belts from another AEW Tag Team in The Lucha Brothers, who won them from The Young Bucks. AAA likes using outside names to spice up cards, and AEW benefits from this – as it shows they’re easy to work with.
