The star is currently pregnant, which arrives on the back end of her long-term relationship with A$AP Rocky.
And given that their relationship is in such a good place, the picture of Rihanna donning that ring naturally raised questions over whether or not she had actually gotten engaged to him.
But when she was asked to come clean over the significance of the ring, she refused to give much away. In a statement, she said: “This old ring? You act like you ain’t never seen this ring.”
Nevertheless, the ring was important for the following reasons. First of all, the singer had placed it on the finger that is traditionally associated with getting engaged.
Therefore, outside of an alternative explanation to the contrary, there is no plausible explanation as to why she would decide to do this unless she had gotten engaged.
Secondly, the pair have been dating since 2020. And ever since their relationship progressed, rumours began to emerge over when they would decide to commit to each other.
The response on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people felt that the ring was of no significance, since she was seen pictured wearing it on numerous occasions.
Meanwhile, others were of the view that Rihanna was teasing her fans by not stating her position clearly. After all, by not confirming one way or another, the singer is only feuding rumours that she has gotten engaged.
One fan wrote: “She wears that ring all the time if you pay attention,” while another person stated: “She didn’t say no either.” Regardless of whether Rihanna is engaged, it is clear that she is very happy in her life.
And after her prior failed relationship with Chris Brown, which was characterised by allegations of domestic violence, she could not be in a better position.
