When it comes to stars on the indies, few names have generated more hype over the past few years than Chris Dickinson. A mainstay of Game Changer Wrestling, Dickinson has long made it clear that his goal in wrestling was to get to Japan. Now, after defeating the legendary Minoru Suzuki during GCW Bloodsport, and having months of working on NJPW Strong – Dickinson has announced that he has now signed a contract with the company.
Chris Dickinson Has Signed With New Japan Pro Wrestling
Taking to Instagram, Dickinson would announce to his fans that he’s now part of the NJPW roster. Dickinson has the following to say.
“I am beyond proud to announce that I have officially signed an agreement with New Japan Pro Wrestling. I’ve heard you all for years say I should sign with other companies and I appreciate everyone of your hopes for my success but this is what I’ve always wanted. With the companies expansion in the USA on the rise and Japan finally reopening, the future is brighter than ever. I am still available to work independently in the USA and internationally excluding Japan but NJPW is now home. Let’s continue to bring the highest level of pro wrestling to the world together.”
A Potential Entrant In The G1 Climax
There is a hope that Dickinson is able to make his way to Japan for the G1 Climax later this year, which would be the ultimate ‘sink or swim’ moment for him in his career. Right now, there are a few potential openings in the tournament – with the injury status of SANADA & Kota Ibushi still up in the air.
NJPW fans are eager to see some fresh matchups, and running the same G1 Climax field as in 2021 wouldn’t be wise. Borders are starting to open up, with Pro Wrestling NOAH bringing in many international stars, which bodes well for the likes of Dickinson and Jay White in the 2022 G1 Climax later this summer.
