Last night, The Foundation clashed as Jonthan Gresham & Rhett Titus locked up over the Pure Championship, but tonight they are once again united as they take on VLNCE UNLTD in eight man tag team action. VLNCE UNLTD ended up on the winning side of a Philly Street Fight last night over La Faccion Ingobernables, but The Foundation are less likely to end up in such a situation. Tony Deppen had huge support, with lots of “Sign Tony Deppen” signs.
Jonathan Gresham Wants Brody King
Homicide tried to cause another Philly Street Fight, but instead Foundation offered handshakes and huddled to get their gameplan. Deppen would start with Titus, and Homicide had a steel chair at ringside, just goofing around. An armdrag took Deppen down, but was unable to keep him there. Deppen would get taken down again with a Headlock Takeover, before getting and ending up the same hold and a powerslam.
Gresham got a tag alongside King, but Lethal wanted revenge for Best in The World. Lethal would get to fight him, putting the straps up only to get Homicide instead. Two of the greatest ex-world champions of the match would lock up, and Lethal would be getting some big chops in to send him to the outside. He’d throw a chair in, and tag in Dickinson who was met by Tracy Williams.
They’d trade kneebar attempts, but Dickinson took Inoki’s position and was able to get him locked. Williams would get a hold as well, but a rope break broke the double hold up. A big shoulder tackle would be blocked, and Dickinson shot the half and took Williams down into a near fall. Williams would hit an underhook suplex and tag in Lethal, who hit the cartwheel dropkick for a two count.
Deppen got a tag, and would light up the chest of Lethal with some chops, but a blind tag to Gresham while running the ropes saw him get German Suplexed. Titus would tag in and attack the legs, with Williams coming in with a knee drop to nail the leg as well. He’d stomp the ankles of Deppen again and again but Dickinson made the save.
Tony Deppen Is A Star, But Jay Lethal Gets The Win
Gresham tagged in, and would wrap Deppen up and grabbed a single leg crab and beat the leg off the mat. King would take a kick to the face, and Titus got a tag in to hit a kneebreaker and back suplex before a spinning lariat and piledriver from Williams. Dickinson made the save, but Deppen would fight until a combo cutter from Lethal & Gresham, but Homicide broke the pinfall up.
Deppen & Gresham went blow for blow in the middle of the ring, with Deppen refusing to give up before Lethal nailed a cutter. Titus kept VLNCE UNLTD at bay, but a Shooting Star Press didn’t get the pin. Gresham got the figure four, and Brody King broke it up with a powerbomb. King would pull Deppen over and get a tag, with him taking out member af6ter member of The Foundation. Lethal took a huge lariat, but Gresham would be there to break the fall up.
King & Gresham would face off with everyone else down. Gresham would trade blows with the beast himself, before taking a German Suplex and being put through a table by Dickinson on the outside. Deppen tagged in and hit a knee strike on Lethal, Homicide & King hit a super cutter, and Deppen got the two count as Williams & Titus got the save.
Titus & Dickinson went to the outside, before Homicide hit a rolling cannonball to the outside. Williams was on the outside and took a crossbody, as Lethal nailed Lethal Injection in the ring for the win.
A true eight man tag team war, which was set up to play to everyone’s strengths. It was absolute chaos from bell to bell, but showed that these are two of the most well rounded factions in the world today for a reason. We got a little bit of everything in this one, a perfect match to show someone new or old to ROH. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** 3/4)
After the match, Lethal took a Gonzo Bomb & Cop Killer, before Titus took a Razors Edge. The Foundation won, but VLNCE got the final laugh. Dickinson would call out more pure wrestlers, past or present to come and challenge them. Who could answer the call? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
