Edge has made a mark on the current WWE since his return from premature retirement due to injuries, but time stops for no one and at some point we’re going to have to say goodbye to him.
It’ll be a sad day, but he’s given us plenty of memories to last a lifetime. The good news is there’s still plenty of gas left in his tank so he’s not retiring any time soon.
The topic came up recently on Steven’s Wrestling Adventure podcast, and Edge gave a timetable for when we can expect to say goodbye and thank you to him on his terms.
Special thanks to @wrestlefeed.app for the transcript.
“It won’t be 10 years, definitely won’t be 10. I doubt it’ll be 5, it’s gonna be before that. I don’t even think it’s going to be 3.
“I don’t know, but I don’t think it’s going to be that long. I know the window is small.
“I know it’s not going to last for long, and I only have so much in the tank to be able to do that. I want to get out before you start going, ‘his tank is getting low.’
“I want to get out while people still have fond memories.”
He’s done it all
It was also pretty cool that Edge pointed out in the podcast that now he’s focused more on enjoying everything and taking it all in after his time away.
It’s something we often hear from athletes and entertainers as they hope others take time to take it all in instead of being in a rush to get from one point to another.
This is great to hear as he’s accomplished pretty much everything possible in the business, and he deserves to enjoy himself.
We can tell he’s having fun this time as his promos are among his best ever and he has a certain bounce in his step that makes us want to keep watching him.
Plus, there’s always the hope that we’ll get to see him and Christian Cage team up one more time, but that’ll depend mostly on their contracts.
Seeing them against the Hardy Boy would be a fun one, but that’d mean Edge would go to AEW and that may not happen, but never say never.
Stranger things have happened, and this is one of several possibilities before the two of them wrap up their wrestling careers for good.
