There is very little debate on what the best tag team match of 2022 has been so far. During ROH Supercard of Honor, fans got to witness an absolute war between AEW’s FTR & ROH’s The Briscoes. These are hands down two of the greatest tag teams in the world today, and they got to show that during their nearly thirty minute clash. While FTR came out on top, there is hope for a rematch – and if that happens; Jim Ross wants to be on commentary for this.
Jim Ross Wants To Call FTR vs. Briscoes II
While speaking on his podcast, ‘Grillin JR’, the legendary voice of professional wrestling would make a hefty claim about FTR. He thinks they have become the best tag team in the world today – but The Briscoes aren’t far behind. Ross would say the following about FTR’s recent matches.
“FTR has roughly elevated themselves to arguably the best tag team in the world. The match they had recently with The Young Bucks was nothing but stimulating. I thought it was just terrific. The match they had with The Briscoes, I’d like to see that match returned, because I’d like to call it. I like The Briscoes’ game, there are really good.”
WarnerMedia Does Not Want The Briscoes In AEW
Right now, this rematch is very much up in the air. WarnerMedia doesn’t want The Briscoes on either TNT or TBS – due to homophobic comments made by Jay Briscoes a decade ago. Despite Jay Briscoe having apologised and shown growth – being endorsed by the likes of GCW’s Effy – this baggage still holds them back.
There is hope that The Briscoes sign with Impact Wrestling, which is a company AEW has worked with in the past. FTR could make their way to Impact Wrestling to have this rematch, and AEW could also loan them Jim Ross for this match.
Currently in AEW, FTR seem set to defend the ROH World Tag Team Championships against Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly, and could be next in line to challenge Jurassic Express for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
