Tonight is the latest PPV offering from Impact Wrestling, as they bring Rebellion 2022. It’s a staacked card, featuring the likes of Moose vs. Josh Alexander on the card. However, one match will not be going on as planned – as Jonathan Gresham will not be making his planned match against Eddie Edwards.
Jonathan Gresham Pulled From Rebellion
This news was reported by Impact Wrestling themselves. They would say the following on Twitter.
“Jonathan Gresham is unable to compete in his scheduled matchup with Eddie Edwards tonight at Rebellion! Chris Bey takes his place and it goes down on Countdown To Rebellion!”
In addition to this, a three way match for the X-Division championship will be moved to the main card. Jonathan Gresham is likely pulled from the card due to a potential injury suffered during Battle of The Belts II. Gresham was checked for a concussion after his match with Dalton Castle, where a gutwrench suplex potentially left him injured.
More Names Pulled From Shows Due To AEW Commitments
Meanwhile, a set of names have been pulled from indy shows set for next weekend by AEW.. Four names were pulled from an upcoming Pro Wrestling Guerilla event, with JD Drake, Wheeler Yuta & Top Flight removed from the Delivering the Goods event set for May 1st. Their replacements are Shane Haste, The Briscoes, and Konosuke Takeshita. Meanwhile, Jake Something was pulled from an event that same weekend.
This all lines up with a set of AEW Dark tapings. Drake has worked with AEW a lot in the past, with a more serious look alongside Anthony Henry as The Workhorsemen. Wheeler Yuta is of course part of Blackpool Combat Club, and will have reduced indy dates as he gets pushed in AEW.
Top Flight is out due to Darius Martin being injured, with Dante Martin left solo once again. Jake Something has been expected to get a look from AEW/ROH following his exit from Impact Wrestling, and would be a solid addition to the ROH roster.
