Britney Spears recently made a surprise announcement on Instagram that is expecting a baby with fiancé Sam Asghari, and now Kevin Federline has voiced his thoughts on the star’s big baby news.
The former backup dancer and ex-husband of Spears released a statement through his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan. ‘Kevin is aware of Britney’s Instagram post. He wishes her the best for a happy, healthy pregnancy and congratulates her and Sam Asghari as they plan for the excitement of parenthood together,’ said the lawyer. Kevin may seem supportive of Britney right now, but things weren’t always so smooth between the two.

You may recall that Federline was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007 and they share two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15. The former flames are anything but amicable exes, as they had a controversial relationship from the start and a contentious court battle pertaining to custody and finances. There were many problems within their marriage, but Kevin’s urge to party played a large role in their split.
Their marriage finally went kaput when Kevin insisted on partying at night in Vegas while Britney was left at home to take care of a one year old and a three week old baby. ‘This was her last straw. He said, ‘I have to go to Vegas.’ He didn’t have to go to Vegas. He uses any excuse to party. She said, ‘I’ve had enough,’ said a source.
Kevin infamously received a hefty $1.3 million payout from Britney’s estate in their divorce proceedings, as well as a substantial child support agreement that left the popstar shelling out over $60,000 a month to her ex. Not only that, but Britney and Kevin once shared split custody of their boys until the judge allowed Kevin to have them 70% of the time, leaving Britney with only 30%.
‘Britney has been advised to leave the custody situation as is because – by the time it would get this to the courts and changed – her one son will be 18 and the other will be right behind,’ the source noted.
We all know that Britney has had her fair share of struggles – from a very public breakdown to a reprehensible 13-year conservatorship that stripped the star of many of her rights. With her newfound freedom, Britney is ready to give marriage and motherhood a second try.
Britney’s third pregnancy would be Sam Asghari’s first child. As for Kevin, he has six children in total – Kori, 19, and Kaleb, 17 with ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson, along with Peyton, 8, and Jordan, 2 with wife Victoria Prince.
