Kicking off action tonight with the NJPW Golden Series is some veterans and a Young Lion. Yuto Nakashima is teaming up with Tiger Mask IV to take on the well tested tag team duo of Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma – otherwise known as Great Bash Heel.
Kokeshi Makes You Happy!
Nakashima would opt to start the match along Honma, and would force him onto the ropes during the opening lock up. A clean break was given, before Nakashima would trade blows with Honma – before falling to a shoulder tackle. Tiger Mask would get the tag, and was able to chop Honma down for a one count
Honma would be able to fire back with a quick DDT – before bringing Makabe into the ring. He’d get the crowd fired up for some downward punches in the corner, before getting a near fall off a Northern Lights Suplex. Nakashima made his way back into the ring, and would try to body slam Honma – but was stopped in his tracks.
Honma would apply the Boston Crab – and Nakashima would be saved by Tiger Mask. Makabe hit a heavy lariat to Tiger Mask, and Honma would hit a brainbuster before being rolled up for a two count. Nakashima slapped Honma, which just fired Honma up – before a Kokeshi off the second rope brought victory.
Zack Sabre Jr. Taps The Young Lion Out
AT Wrestling Dontaku on May 1st, Ryuske Taguchi & Master Wato will look to make their second defense as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. The Suzuki-gun duo of Yoshinobu Kanemaru & DOUKI will be their opponents then, and tonight they all clash in a trios match. Six or Nine have Young Lion Ryohei Oiwa on their side, while Zack Sabre Jr. brings his skills to the Suzuki-gun side.
In typical Suzuki-Gun fashion, they would jump their opponents as the bell rang. DOUKI would keep Master Wato in the ring, and both men would show their agility – with Wato winning out with a jumping spin kick. This one spilled to the outside, and Suzuki-Gun quickly regained control – with Kanemaru nailing a running dropkick.
ZSJ would attack the arm of Wato in the ring – before turning things into a crossarm bow and arrow hold. Oiwa attempted to make the save, but was dropped with a heavy forearm shot. Wato would get back into the fight, nailing a dropkick on Kanemaru – before tagging in Taguchi. He’d nail a running hip attack on Kanemaru before applying the ankle lock.
ZSJ would hit the ring, but Taguchi was able to maintain his control. Oiwa got the tag as all three men ganged up on ZSJ – and a gutwrench suplex required Kanemaru to save ZSJ. Taguchi hit a hip attack to take Kanemaru down, but in the ring, ZSJ would have to fight off the Boston Crab. He’d work his way into a neck lock just using his legs, and forced Oiwa to tap out.
El Desperado Clashes With His Next Challenger In Tag Team Action
BULLET CLUB are back in the swing of things in NJPW, and have enemies coming from all sides. Even the normally evil Suzuki-gun have came against them, and tonight they send TAKA Michinoku and El Desperado to take on Gedo & Taiji Ishimori. On May 1st, Ishimori has a chance to take the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship from El Desperado – making tonight a potentially essential time to scout Desperado out.
Desperado & Ishimori would kick this match off – showing their speed and grappling skills in the ring. Ishimori applied a hammerlock, but Desperado used the ropes to counter his way free. Gedo would use a Too Sweet eye poke on Michinoku, before taking a kick to the shin and and eye poke of his own.
Ishimori would help gain control with a series of back rakes, before Gedo went back to working the eyes of Michinoku over. Desperado would get the tag, and apply Numero Dos on Gedo in the middle of the ring – with Ishimori having to make the save. Ishimori would apply the Yes! Lock, before trying to move into the Bone Lock – but a rope break would free Desperado.
Spinebuster would land, before Michinoku hit the ring for a set of knee strikes for a near fall. Ishimori was able to hit Bloody Cross – and this one was over.
