Thandiwe Newton recently made headlines for having heated arguments with Channing Tatum on the set of the upcoming ‘Magic Mike’ film, which resulted in the role being recast in favor of Selma Hayeck.
While Thandiwe insisted that she left the film on her own accord due to ‘personal reasons,’ more details have emerged regarding the troublesome behavior she displayed on set.

Thandiwe’s alarming actions sparked concern amongst those working on the film. Cast and crew members described the British actress as “acting strange on set, always ranting and raving, and being very highly strung” during the eleven days she shot footage for ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ opposite Channing Tatum.
Newton allegedly got into a fiery row with Tatum over Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars and now new accounts of her peculiar behavior have been reported.
“Her apparent breakdown caused so much disruption, it became clear she couldn’t play the role,” revealed a source. “There is a lot going on in her personal life, she and her husband have separated. She seemed so stressed she even brought her two pet rabbits to her hotel for emotional support.”
Both Thandiwe and Warner Bros. Pictures refused claims that she was axed from the film, with the studio issuing a statement that said, “Thandiwe Newton has made the difficult decision to step away from the production of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Magic Mike’s Last Dance to deal with family matters”.
It has also been claimed that Thandiwe Newton is currently going through a difficult separation from her husband of 24 years, Ol Parker, and that she is very likely to enter rehab soon. Thandiwe has been married to Parker since 1998 and they share three children, Ripley, 21, Nico, 17, Booker, 8.
Losing leading roles and a potential divorce mark a series of changes for the star, who also recently changed her name from ‘Thandie’ to the traditional African spelling, ‘Thandiwe’. In addition to that, the actress has also fired her longtime UK agent of nearly three decades.
According to reports, Thandiwe’s US team is desperate to get her mental health back on track but they can’t force her into rehab against her will. “Thandiwe’s team wants her to go to rehab for mental health support.
She was supposed to leave immediately for a facility, they tried for a Malibu rehab, but they couldn’t take her. Arrangements are now being made to go to a facility in Arizona, if she agrees to go,” claimed a source.
