On April 8, 2022, The Real Housewives of Lagos started streaming on Showmax. This was a night after its grand and glamorous launch in Sandton, South Africa, and the series took the whole of Africa (and the UK) by storm!
The first episode already showed fans that there’ll be a lot of drama after fans watched the shady moments. Here are six shady moments in episode 1 that will make you want more of the ladies.
RHOL: What’s Up With Chioma’s Accent Tho? Toyin Is Confused
It’s unclear if Toyin Lawani-Adebayo was shading or making fun of Chioma’s accent, but she had something to say about it. Her first impression of the hair boss was that her accent was too much.
During her diary sessions, she kept saying that that it would take some time to get used to Chioma’s British English. However, it should be noted that the hair mogul as spent most so many years in London, hence the accent.
RHOL: The Ladies React to Carolyna’s Over-The-Top Dress
It’s normal for the ladies to want to make an impression with their outfit, but it seems Carolyna did not impress her fellow cast mates, as her lemon outfit was a little more than they could handle. Despite just going to a product launch for Toyin Lawani-Adebayo’s daughter, the former Nollywood actress a dress that should have graced a red carpet event. Her fellow cast members didn’t hold back as they had shady things to say about the dress’s thigh-high slit and Carolyna’s heavy cleavage.
RHOL: Laura’s Late to the Party. She Should Have Stayed Back At Home!
Toyin didn’t like the fact tha Laura arrived late to her event, and she promised to reciprocate the tardiness. She said that, “I will get to her event when they are already packing the chairs.” The other cast members also thought what Laura did was bad – showing up several hours late to the event. Someone asked her why she didn’t stay back at home. Carolyna refused to say anything about the situation. She said she doesn’t like to say anything mean about other people.
RHOL: Friend or Customer, Who am I to you, Chioma?
The first episode shows Laura saying that she’d been Chioma’s friend for six or seven years and the hair boss debunked her claims, saying that she has only been a good customer. Laura thought Chioma was being shady and didn’t hold back during her diary session, saying she wanted her to say that they were friends, but Chioma refused.
Viewers saw Laura looking angry the rest of the evening. Laura eventually said that she believed the other cast members were being too nice to Chioma, and this confused her.
RHOL: Another friendship saga!
Laura said that she didn’t think Toyin and Carolyna were still friends, so she was surprised to see the duo hanging out. The ladies used to be close, but they split after a blow-up. However, Laura has refused to accept that they are now friends again despite the show bringing them back together. Toyin says she’s a butterfly who can’t stay mad at someone for too long.
She added, “Anybody that doesn’t gel with me has spiritual problems. Their village people are following them.” However, Carolyna has said that the former is WAY too much for her, and they can only be together for short periods. Perhaps, Laura is right to question their friendship.
RHOL: Don’t Call Me “Aunty!”
Toyin calling Iyabo “aunty” does not sit well with the latter, and the Nollywood actress addressed this in her diary session. The mother of two said that Toyin calling her “aunty” made her feel old and she didn’t like it. She talk about this with Toyin during the first episode, but viewers look forward to how these two will communicate during the show with the “aunty” saga.
