A California woman who headed to Michigan for sex with a teenage boy has been arrested after the teen became concerned when an Uber came to his house. The woman is 32-year-old Stephanie Sin, a native of San Francisco, who had been talking with the unnamed teen for roughly a year through an app.

In speaking with Fox 2 Detroit, Lt. Jason Meier of the Novi Police Department said things started out casually then escalated from there:
“It started as them talking casually and then it advanced to more sexually explicit talk. She was a little surprised (at the arrest), but at the same time she knew what she was doing.”
“He was aware that she was an adult and she was aware that he was 15-year-old boy,” the lieutenant told WDIV. Sin left San Francisco and arrived in Michigan where she had rented an Airbnb in Royal Oak, a suburb of Detroit. From reports, she had rented the home for a month.
The woman began sending Uber drivers to the teen’s house. At that point, the teen became spooked. In the WDIV interview, Lt. Meier said:
“It was fun and exciting to talk to somebody online but the minute they start to show up at your doorstep it becomes a whole different ballgame, and I think that— and rightly so—scared him enough to tell his parents.”
The 32-year-old was arrested at the Airbnb on Monday, April 11, and booked shortly afterward. Lt. Meier said that Sin “was a little surprised but at the same time, she knew what she was doing.” He also gave the teenager credit for telling his parents.
“I give him all the credit in the world for telling somebody, cause he took a predator off the street.”
Stephanie Sin has been charged with using a computer to commit a crime and child sexually abusive activity, according to PEOPLE. She is being held in Oakland County Jail on $100,000 bail. An attempt to get bail lowered was denied outright by District Judge David Law on Wednesday, April 20.
PEOPLE reported that Airbnb has banned Sin from renting properties in the future.
