At Double or Nothing 2022, we will finally see if CM Punk is able to cap off his impressive return run in professional wrestling with another reign as World Champion. He’s claimed the top belts in ROH & WWE in the past, and has been only defeated once since making his way to AEW – and MJF pulled out every trick to do so.
Now, he’s preparing for a very motivated Hangman Page, and tonight will face Long Island’s own John Silver in singles action. Coming out in a New York Islanders jersey would do little to endear Punk to the hostile crowd – meanwhile Silver got a heroes welcome.
CM Punk Uses Hangman Page’s Finisher To Defeat John Silver
There would be overwhelming “Johnny Hungee” chants here tonight, and Punk was kind of loving not being the fan favourite. He’s made a great career out of being a villain, and has a chance to be a bit more brutal in this one. Silver would run Punk down with a shoulder tackle, before blocking a hip toss into a backslide for a one count.
Punk would try to bait Silver in by going in and out of the ring – but Silver would remain in control. A heavy lariat would get control for Punk, who nailed a Russian Leg Sweep – allowing Punk to float over into a pinfall attempt. Silver would nail some heavy strikes, before Punk would look for the rising knee in the corner.
Silver was able to dodge, and nail a sheer drop brainbuster for a near fall. He’d take a roundhouse kick from Punk, before the rising knee landed in the corner. Punk would lock eyes with Hangman Page who was on the commentary desk – before going for the Buckshot Lariat to get the win.
Page would rush the ring, and Punk accused him of taking all this a bit personally. Punk going after the title isn’t personal, it’s just business. At the end of the night at Double or Nothing, CM Punk will simply be champion – and Page will be forced to shake his hand.
Danhausen Makes His Long Awaited In-Ring Debut
After months of dishing out curses on various people on the AEW roster, Danhausen is finally going to have an official match. He was called out by Tony Nese, and his manager Smart Mark Sterling pulled some strings to make it official. Nese is done waiting to get the respect he feels he deserves, and will look to stomp out a man he views as a disgrace to this great industry.
Nese would see an opening very early – as Danhausen tried to curse Mark Sterling. He’d take Danhausen into the corner, and nail the Running Nese – and this was over just like that. Nese would nail a second one, while Sterling said that Nese is going to embarrass all the meme wrestlers.
HOOK would come to the aid of Danhausen, and Nese would run like a scolded dog. It appeared HOOKHausen might be more of a reality than we all first thought. Are HOOK & Danhausen set for a tag team run? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
