Ahead of his coming match with Wardlow on AEW Dynamite, The Butcher gets a tune up match tonight on AEW Rampage. With Shawn Spears on commentary, tonight is not set to be a long night for The Butcher. If he’s gonna cripple Wardlow – he needs to be a killer, and tonight is a way to kick that off.
Butcher Cuts Down His Opponent – Dustin Rhodes Wants CM Punk
His opponent would come off the top rope with a dropkick, but Butcher did not even flinch. Some heavy forearm blows would follow, before dropping them with a chop. The lariat in the corner buckled the knees to the opponent, before sending a message right to Wardlow with a powerbomb for the win.
Following this match, we’d hear from Dustin Rhodes. He’s been on One Last Run for a while, and knows what is next. Rhodes wants to face a man who is the dream match for himself, someone he’s never faced before. He wants CM Punk on Dynamite – and we all know Punk doesn’t turn down a match. The Natural vs. The Best In The World – who could turn that one down!
Ruby Soho Is Faced By Twin Magic
For the past few months, Ruby Soho has been relegated to AEW Dark – after repeated failures in AEW. Since then, she’s been working on her cardio, debuted a new finisher – and now has a chance to earn her way into the Owen Hart Memorial Cup. Her opponent tonight is Robyn Renegade – someone hungry to earn her first big shot in AEW.
Renegade would start off with a chip on her shoulder, shoving Soho into the corner. She’d grab wrist control on Soho, before tossing her to the mat as Soho tried to flip free. Some headbutts to Renegade would be followed by a back heel trip – before looking for Deadly Nightshade in the corner. Renegade had a counter ready to go, nailing a kick to the face.
Camel Clutch was applied in the middle of the ring, before Soho broke free. Some heavy chops in the corner would follow, before Soho got the taste slapped out of her mouth. Backstabber landed, but Renegade didn’t follow up fast enough with the cover. Inexperience was showing in that aspect of Renegades game, with sloppy and slow covers being unable to take out the veteran.
Soho would nail a backdrop driver, getting the opening she needed. Some lariats would follow, before Soho hit a running kick to the side of the head. Deadly Nightshade landed in the corner, with Renegade hitting the corner face first. Robyn’s twin sister Charlotte Renegade would switch behind the back of the official.
Soho would head up top for a senton, but the knees were up. Charlotte Renegade would take the No Future Kick, and they’d switch again. Robyn was back in with a roll up, but the twisting complete shot from Soho got the win.
