Britney Spears and her fiancé Sam Asghari are planning their upcoming wedding and preparing for the arrival of their first child together, but when it comes to their prenuptial agreement there are few things that need to be worked out before they say ‘I Do’.
Britney, 40, and Sam, 28, are eager to tie the knot as soon as possible but finalizing their prenup has been taking “longer than usual” according to a source.
Britney Spears’ Fiancé Sam Asghari Wants Prenup To Ensure He Doesn’t End Up ‘Penniless’
While speaking to US Weekly, the unidentified source claimed that “Sam wants substantial increases for every five years they are married, should it end.” While Sam insists that money isn’t the motive when it comes to impending nuptials to the wealthy pop star, he wants to ensure that “he doesn’t end up penniless if they separate.”
Britney, who has amassed an estimated $70 million fortune over her decades-long career, has been “staying out of the entire process” and is “letting her lawyers hash it out with Sam’s team,” the source revealed. Britney’s focus remains on planning her dream wedding and starting a family.
Britney announced her engagement to Sam via Instagram in September 2021 with by sharing photos of her flashy diamond ring along with the caption “I can’t f—ing believe it!”” While they couple mostly received positive remarks and well-wishes, actress Octavia Spencer didn’t mince words when she commented, “Make him sign a prenup”.
Sam addressed the whole prenup situation on his Instagram stories shortly after by saying, “Thank you everyone who is concerned about The Prenup! Of course we’re getting [an] iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”
While it’s unclear when exactly Britney and Sam will get hitched, it’s safe to assume that their wedding will take place after she gives birth. One thing we know for certain is that Britney will get hitched wearing a custom gown by famed designer Donatella Versace.
Britney’s upcoming union to Sam will mark the singer’s third marriage. She impulsively got hitched to childhood friend Jason Alexander on January 3, 2004 during a spur-of-the-moment trip to the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Their brief marriage lasted a mere 55 hours before Britney’s team pressured her to have an annulment.
In October of that same year Britney wed her backup dancer, Kevin Federline. The marriage produced two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Their divorce was finalized in 2007.
Britney was also engaged to her former agent Jason Trawick in 2011. In a rather creepy twist, Jason was also named a co-conservator of Britney’s estate before their relationship in 2013. Knowing what we know now about Britney’s torrid 13-year conservatorship, it leaves many unanswered questions about the true dynamic of their relationship.
