In an interview just a few weeks after Bob’s passing, Candace was candid about how she had been struggling to cope with the loss, saying, “There are good days and there are really hard days, and I’m doing okay. I think we all are, but each day it feels a little better.”
“The good thing is, we all want to keep his legacy alive, so I want to talk about Bob. I want to share things about Bob and share about the laughs and the good times, and that part feels comforting,” she said.
Saget passed away unexpectedly on January 9 at the start of his ‘I Don’t Do Negative’ stand-up comedy tour. He had finished a two-hour performance in Florida and had even made a social media post a few hours before his death saying how excited he was to be back on stage.
“I had no idea I did a two hour set tonight. I’m back in comedy like I was when I was 26. I guess I’m finding my new voice and loving every moment of it,” Bob Said in his final Instagram post before posting upcoming tour dates and saying that he would “probably keep going cause I’m addicted to this sh-t”.
Bob’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, had the staff at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando do a wellness check on her husband after having not heard from him for several hours. Bob was unfortunately found unresponsive and tucked into bed and was pronounced dead on the scene.
An autopsy later revealed that Saget had suffered severe head trauma and had multiple skull fractures that resulted in his death. It is assumed that he experienced an “unwitnessed fall backwards” and then crawled into bed where he died in his sleep. The severity and extent of Bob’s injuries raised many questions that remain unanswered.
Bob Saget was an absolute fixture to wholesome family television throughout much of the 1990’s. He played the role of Danny Tanner on ‘Full House’ for 9 seasons while simultaneously hosting ‘America’s Funniest Videos’ for 8 seasons. He also reprised his role as Tanner family patriarch for the ‘Fuller House’ spin off from 2016 until 2020. Despite his squeaky-clean reputation, Bob had a real knack for dirty humor and much of his comedy routine would be full of expletives and ‘inappropriate’ jokes.
Bob’s death brought on an outpouring of tributes, stories, and memories from celebrities and fans alike. While we may never know what really happened to Bob when he was alone in his hotel room, it goes without saying that Bob will forever be missed.
