Isaiah Lee, the man accused of attacking Dave Chappelle, has spoken out about his motivation for the attack.
Dave Chappelle’s Bisexual Attacker Isaiah Lee Reveals His Motivation For Attacking The Comedian-‘What He Said Was Triggering’
The defendant accosted the comedian while he was performing at the ‘Netflix Is a Joke’ festival on Tuesday, 3rd May 2022.
During the course of that process, Isaiah was alleged to have pulled out a replica gun, which included a folding blade, that could have then been directed towards Dave.
As a consequence, security intervened to apprehend him, which resulted in Isaiah suffering a broken arm. But now that the dust has settled, Isaiah has made his intentions for the attack very clear.
In a statement made to the New York Post, he said: “I identify as bisexual… and I wanted him to know what he said was triggering.
“I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect.” Dave does have a history of triggering the LGBTQ+ community.
His Netflix show entitled ‘The Closer’ resulted in employees at Netflix staging a walkout protest on the basis that his jokes were deemed to be ‘transphobic.’
Although the show went ahead as planned, Dave found himself in similar trouble once again. Just this month, he opened for fellow comedian John Mulaney.
But in the immediate aftermath, criticism began to emerge that Dave as making ‘transphobic’ and ‘homophobic’ jokes. And this perceived belittling of LGBTQ+ community was something that did not sit down well with Isaiah.
He added: “I’m also a single dad and my son is 5. It’s a struggle and I wanted Dave Chappelle to know it’s not a joke.” The fans on social media were very brutal towards Isaiah.
They were adamant that the point of comedy was to not take things too seriously. One person wrote: “People like the attacker trigger me. WTF is wrong with you people over jokes.”
It is safe to say that Isaiah is not Dave’s biggest fan. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
