We’re just coming off one of the best NJPW shows of the year – that being Wrestling Dontaku 2022. It was a great night for BULLET CLUB, who are looking to claim full control of New Japan once again. They were able to claim the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships during Dontaku, and the show ended with Jay White returning to Japan to lay out Kazuchika Okada. This will all lead into Dominion 6.12 in June – with the first four matches already announced.
BULLET CLUB Dominates The Early Card For Dominion 6.12
The main event of Dominion on June 12th will see Kazuchika Okada defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Jay White. These two are no strangers to each other, with them having clashed in the past in big time singles matches – as well as over the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. White is the top gaijin in the company, and could be trusted with a reign during the 50th anniversary year.
We will also see the new IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions defend their gold at Dominion. Chase Owens & Bad Luck Fale were able to claim the belts in a triple threat match at Dontaku, but didn’t pin either of the now former champions. Jeff Cobb & Great-O-Khan have called for their rematch, and will get it at Dominion.
Another return to Japan came in the form of Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows. After EVIL lost the NEVER Openweight Championship to Tama Tonga, Anderson & Gallows set the record straight. Tama caused issues with Anderson, and now will pay the price as he needs to face The Machine Gun himself. The NEVER Openweight Championship is on the line, and Anderson has a chance to prove himself a viable singles star in 2022.
Finally, we have a rematch between Shingo Takagi & Taichi over the KOPW 2022 Provisional Trophy. They had a shockingly great match over the trophy with a 30 count match, as their hard hitting action shined through. It’s likely this match will have a six count stipulation, requiring a count of six to get the victory.
The rest of the card will take shape over the course of May, with the winner of the Best of the Super Juniors tournament set to face BULLET CLUB’s own Taiji Ishimori. Potentially this could even be AEW’s Wheeler Yuta, or Impact Wrestling’s Ace Austin.
