Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been forced to accept a lower role at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
Harry And Meghan Have Become ‘Supporting Guest Stars’ For The Royal Family
That is according to reporter Daniela Elser. These claims arrived on the back end of the admission that the couple will not be on the palace balcony by joining Prince Andrew in that regard.
And given that the spotlight has to be on the monarch, as it is her 70th year in charge, there is a feeling that the couple had no choice but to attend with these conditions.
After all, if they had refused simply on the basis that they were not allowed the opportunity to be on the balcony, then it would clearly have generated a lot of backlash.
In her comments, Daniela said: “It is surprising they would] sign on as supporting guest stars.
“This is Harry and Meghan being forced to accept a downgrade while the world watches on.” Nevertheless, these comments have been countered previously by Royal expert Omid Scobie.
He was of the view that the couple had engaged in conversations with those in the Royal family to state that they did not believe a balcony appearance was suitable for them. After all, by leaving the Royal family in 2020, it would have made no sense for them to be shown in that manner.
In some comments with Yahoo, Omid remarked: “The Duke of Sussex had actually expressed some time ago that he and Meghan were very keen to be a part of the Jubilee engagements.
“But less so for the formal balcony moment, which was felt on both sides to be more appropriate for their lives prior to stepping back.”
Ultimately, if the couple’s appearance can lead to a situation where the Royal family ends up reconciling, then that would be welcomed.
And that is the most important thing to remember going forward, irrespective of who appears on the palace balcony. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
