Even though Joe Rogan speaks for straight two-three hours with guests and documents it on daily basis, the podcaster and comedian has not revealed much about his past until now. The world knows the basic information about the podcaster, but there is not much information about his early life and pre-UFC life.
Rogan is a mega-popular podcaster and a public figure. He manages to get famous and succeed in life on a professional as well as on a private plan. He has a successful commentary career, the most popular podcast in the world, booming comedy career, and on top of that he manages to keep in form and do daily training. All this, without a father figure in his life.
Joe Rogan Was A Victim Of Domestic Violence
In a recent episode of his podcast, he reveals some details about his early life. There are a lot of examples where the father is not present in the child’s life since early childhood. Rogan as well doesn’t have good memories of his father. He says that he was left without a father since he was 7 years old due to a divorce. He and his mother were constant victims of domestic violence, hence the divorce.
“When you grow up with violence, you have a mentality to respond and react quickly, develop this hair-trigger reaction to things. Overreact, and make mistakes they can’t rebound from, and a lot of it is because of the actual programming that occurs when they’re in the womb. Even when their mother is experiencing violence from the father, it literally changes their genes in the womb.” – Joe Rogan says.
Having a tough childhood leaves some marks on you, that is for sure. However, in order to minimize these marks you need a tough and strong mother. Luckily for him, Joe Rogas has one who is on his side ever since.
Looks like Joe has such a luck to be surrounded by women only. Now, he has a wife, two daughters and a stepdaughter. However, he is contrary to what his father has been. He enjoys his kid’s presence and spends time with them as much as he can.
Rogan has last seen his biological father when he was 7 years old. Ever since he has had no contact whatsoever with him. His mother after the divorce, as a single mother works long hours to take care of the family. When she married his stepfather the same story continues. He doesn’t receive much attention, so he has much time to dedicate to his hobbies.
“My mom worked all her life. My stepdad has been a really good guy, but no one was ever around. And when they were done working, everybody was tired. I was a latchkey kid… When I was 7-year-old… I would go out and do a magic show on fisher’s Wharf by myself; Just wander around the city. They would open the door and you just leave.” – Joe Rogan says.
So, not everything is as it seems. And not everybody that has been a victim of some kind of abuse ends up being a bad person. Some of them look on the bright side of the world and manage to build successful careers and have beautiful carrying families.
