DOUKI was able to start his tournament off with a shocking victory over El Lindaman, but tonight has to deal with the ROH Pure Champion. Wheeler Yuta is keen to get on the scoreboard after dropping his first match to Robbie Eagles – and tonight will show DOUKI just why he was courted to join AEW’s Blackpool Combat Club.
DOUKI Gets Out Wrestled By AEW’s Wheeler Yuta
Yuta was able to start this one off with a side headlock, and when DOUKI shoved Yuta off – he was run down with the shoulder tackle. A scoop slam would drop DOUKI next, before a jumping senton. The dropkick sent DOUKI to the floor, but he was able to block the dive of Yuta with a kick before hitting a tope suicida of his own.
DDT on the floor would follow, punishing the neck of Yuta. In the ring, Yuta bit the hand of DOUKI, before uncorking a heavy lariat. Manhattan Drop into an enziguri would set up the flying lariat into the corner, and a second from the top rope. DOUKI went to the floor, and this time was unable to block the oncoming dive.
Back into the ring, a springboard flatliner would get Yuta a two count. DOUKI would miss an enziguri – but was able to apply the DOUKI CHOKEY. Yuta would break free and avoid the Daybreak DDT before hitting a German Suplex. Cattle Mutilation would be applied, but DOUKI found the bottom rope with his foot.
DOUKI would hit the throat thrust and a sunset flip, before going back into the DOUKI CHOKEY – but Yuta found the bottom rope. Daybreak landed, but Yuta would kick out at two. Suplex de La Luna was blocked, before Yuta would hit the Hammer & Anvil elbows, before the Seatbelt Clutch for the pinfall victory to earn his first two points of the tournament.
A Battle Of Respect
Titán & El Lindaman both tasted defeat on their first night of tournament action, but they’re ready to get back into the mix. Lindaman has bounced back with a successful defence of his G-REX Championship against Shigehiro Irie, and Titán was incredibly close to beating El Desperado. Tonight, one of these men will earn their first two points of the tournament.
The crowd was behind both men in this match, and a handshake showed the respect between both men in the match. Lindaman applied a wrist lock and forced Titán down to the mat. Titán would be able to fight for control of the hold, before both men looked for some quick pinfall attempts.
Lindaman threw the first strike of the match, but Titán didn’t register the chops on his scarred chest. Titán would tease a chop, before a spinning mid-kick to the gut. Lindaman would be dropped with the dropkick and went to the floor, before Titán hit a feint dive, backflipping over the top rope and sticking the landing.
Lindaman would hit a running big boot to the face, before dumping Titán back into the ring. A back elbow smash got a two count,before Titán hit the diving dropkick. The legs of Lindaman would be tied up in the middle of the ring, but would roll to the apron.
El Lindaman Puts Titán Away With Style
Both men tried strikes on the apron, before Titán went high risk and missed the double stomp after a thrust kick knocked Lindaman down. Lindaman would nail a dive over the top rope, but hurt his knee on the way down. Both men had a hurt leg now, so at least things were even.
Back into the ring, Lindaman would hit a snap DDT on the mat – and was able to get a two count for his efforts. Titán would ask for Lindaman to bring the strikes, only to grab the leg lock once again. Lindaman again broke free, but this time was put right onto the top rope. He’d be stunned by a kick, allowing Titan to grab him onto his shoulders and toss him to the mat.
Titán would nail a facebuster before a swing and a miss with a kick. Lindaman missed a kick of his own, before being driven down into the mat. Titán went to the top rope, and would hit the double stomp to the back. He’d miss the springboard stomp, before being hit with Kumagoroshi. Titán managed to kick out, but a Bridging high-angle German suplex got Lindaman the win.
