Piers Morgan has given his take on the Whoopi Goldberg controversy in which the latter was subjected to huge criticism following her comments on the Holocaust.
Piers Morgan Gives His Take On Whoopi Goldberg’s Controversial Holocaust Comments-‘Bet She Doesn’t Lose Her Job’
Whoopi, for her part, made the comments during the course of‘The View’ in which she stated that Adolf Hitler’s motivation for the Holocaust was not based on race, but rather evil intention.
This received a huge amount of backlash, as a significant proportion of people felt that she was downplaying the incident that resulted in a reported 6 million Jewish people being killed.
Although she would go on to apologise for her comments, the very fact of the matter is that she has been suspended for two weeks with her future still uncertain.
But that has not been enough for Piers, who felt that there was a double standard especially in light of how other members from the show had been treated in the past for their misgivings.
In a post to his fans on Twitter, Piers said: “Sharon Osbourne was fired from The Talk for defending me against a fake charge of racism.
“Whoopi Goldberg said on The View yesterday that the Holocaust ‘wasn’t about race’, which for Jewish people is about as racist a comment as anyone could make. Bet she doesn’t lose her job.”
Piers does have a point, as Sharon Osbourne felt that she was hard done by and denied exhibiting any form of racism. This begs the question, will Whoopi be out of her job too?
This is something that the TV show will have to think about seriously by virtue of the fact that the ratings did drop initially once Sharon was fired from the show.
And given that Whoopi is one of the mainstay presenters on it, there is a feeling that something similar could happen again. And yet, by failing to take action, they could end up opening another can of worms.
The response on social media was in favor of Piers. A significant proportion of people felt that unless Whoopi was fired, there was clearly a double standard.
