Royal journalist Rafe Heydel-Mankoo has claimed that Queen Elizabeth is not ready for people to see her walking with the help of aids. The royal expert shared this opinion in a chat with GB News host Isabel Webster. Mr. Rafe also revealed that the monarch will keep avoiding public appearances in which she will have to walk for long periods of time. He made these claims in view of the Queen’s decision to skip the State Opening of Parliament, holding today, May 10, 2022.
Royal Journalist Claims The Queen Is Now Using A Wheel Chair
During the chat, Isabel Webster expressed her concerns about the Queen’s current mobility concerns. The television personality claimed to know that the monarch “is now using a wheelchair”. Isabel further said, “We understand discrete inquiries have been about the use of the wheelchair within the Palace of Westminster, why wouldn’t that have been an option for Her Majesty, presumably, she could have done that but she’s decided that she’d rather her son and her grandson take the mantle instead.”

Reacting to Isabel’s comments on the show, Mr. Heydel-Mankoo said, “The Queen isn’t quite ready yet to be seen in public using aids, whether that be walking sticks or wheelchairs. Of course, people will remember her mother, the Queen Mother, having two walking sticks but people will also remember Princess Margaret, her sister, who was in a wheelchair.
I am sure the time when Her Majesty will be happy to be seen in public like that.” He continued, “I am not surprised at all, that she is not attending, I assumed always that that would be the case. It’s a very tiring day, the Opening of Parliament, there is a lot of walking involved and it finishes with having to ascend several stairs to the throne.“
Prince Charles and Prince William will stand in for the monarch at the Parliament’s inaugural session. The monarch has only skipped the prestigious ceremony twice throughout her reign. Both cases were in 1959 and 1963, when she was expecting babies. The state opening of parliament is the latest occasion that the monarch will skip in the last couple of months due to health concerns.
