Rabbi Abraham Cooper has stated that Whoopi Goldberg’s controversial comments on the Holocaust could be used as a moment to educate people on such matters.

Whoopi, for her part, was suspended from ‘The View’ after she suggested that Adolf Hitler’s crimes against the 6 million Jewish people that had suffered were not based on race, but evil intention.
Although Whoopi held her hands up in the aftermath and apologised, the very fact of the matter is that a certain subset of people want her fired as a result.
But for Abraham, he feels that she has been punished and more focus should be placed on preventing things like this from happening again.
During an interview with Fox News, he said: “We’re not dealing with someone here who spoke in order to hurt anyone in our community.
“But what she said obviously is extremely confusing to people and in many ways hurtful. Whoopi Goldberg has been held accountable for her speech. That’s fine.
In an attempt to bridge the gap, Abraham confirmed that he has reached out to Whoopi. While it is not clear exactly what Whoopi will do next, the most important thing that the Rabbi feels is to establish the source of her views.
In doing so, it will allow the talk show host to be in a better position to understand why her comments had caused outrage. He added: “The most important thing now is where did this idea [Goldberg shared] come from?
“And why it’s wrong. ABC is welcome to come broadcast here for a week from the Museum of Tolerance [a rabbi centre].”
Despite Abraham’s comments, a section of the audience felt that it was too late. Anything done by Whoopi now would be seen as an attempt to minimise the damage on her reputation.
One person wrote: “She’s been allowed to spew for too many years without any repercussions. Now, it’s time for her to fly.”
It is a very critical time for Whoopi knowing that her career is on the line. Time will tell whether or not she has done enough to survive from the claws of cancel culture.
