While rapper Freddie Gibbs was more reserved around Mike Tyson, the “Willie Lloyd” artist felt that Saturday night’s alright for fighting. Gibbs was involved in a brawl on May 14 at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Buffalo, New York.
Rapper Freddie Gibbs Beaten Up in Buffalo Brawl
Freddie Gibbs was in town for a show when the fight popped off. It was captured on video and shows Gibbs—in a green shirt—trying to get his licks in. At one point, he completely disappears from view after the rush takes him down to the far left of the video. The Alfredo rapper was really doing his best to hang in there but he was dealing with superior numbers and he is not Jet Li at the end of The One.
He had to at least attempt to keep fighting as Gibbs is known for being involved in a number of beef and disagreements which typically start over something minor and escalates into the rapper suffering some sort of L.
It’s a shame as the guy is talented and his work with Madlibs and The Alchemist has produced some great music. However, in hip hop taking too many losses isn’t going to nourish a career. In the past, there have been disagreements with Gunna of YSL, Meek Mill, Jim Jones, and hip-hop critic and personality DJ Akademiks.
The record doesn’t lean in favor of Gibbs in those beefs. That aside, the mystery here is that the cause of the fight is unknown but it’s believed that Gibbs was the target. Social media is pointing to some associates of Benny The Butcher, a member of the hip-hop collective–and label–Griselda.
Yes, you guessed it, the two of them have beef as well.
Gibbs would go on to perform at Town Ballroom and had a noticeably swollen eye from the fracas. If anything, there was a silver lining in all of this as he apparently managed to hold on to his chain.
