A$AP Rocky has spoken out on his plans for his son following his girlfriend Rihanna’s recent pregnancy.
A$AP Rocky Wants His Son To Be Open Minded-‘I Used To Be Homophobic’
Rihanna, for her part, welcomed the couple’s first child together this month. And now that he has become a parent, he hopes to raise his child in a way that he will grow up to be inclusive.
A$AP had previously spoken about how he was homophobic during the earlier parts of his career. And given that he works in an industry where there are a significant number of LGBTQ+ artists, this had to change.
In his prior comments at the time, he said: “I used to be homophobic, but that’s f—ked up. I had to look in the mirror and say, ‘All the designers I’m wearing are gay.’
“I hear stories about all these industry motherf—kers who are gay, and I don’t know if it’s true or not, but that s—t don’t matter.” With that being said, A$AP has now come a long way since then.
And his son will have the opportunity to learn about two very diverse cultures. Rihanna’s roots are from Barbados, while A$AP was born in Harlem, New York which is known for historically having a very high crime rate.
But it is the emphasis on diversity that A$AP wants to impose on his son. In an interview with Dazed, A$AP remarked: “I hope to raise open-minded children. Not people who discriminate.
“And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents. Things like diversity and versatility are important, and they’ll be embedded in the household.”
A$AP will certainly have his work cut out, given that this is his first child. But by having Rihanna by his side, he is in the best possible position to provide a suitable environment for his son going forward.
