The long legal journey of Danielle Redlick came to an end on June 17, 2022. She was found not guilty in the death of Michael Redlick, her stepfather-then-husband. The murder occurred on January 11, 2019, when she stabbed Michael Redlick to death and would wait several hours before calling 911.

Danielle (48) was originally Michael’s stepdaughter, however after her mother died of cancer in 1999, they began a relationship and were married just a few years later. Over time, their marriage curdled until it reached that violent night in January 2019.
The truth about that night is still a mystery but according to Danielle Redlick’s defense: Michael was the aggressor. He got angry that she was texting another man and then became physical. She went to defend herself and he ended up dead in the kitchen.
Initially, she said that he had a heart attack, then claimed he stabbed himself while attempting to take the knife from her. Later she would confess to stabbing him in self-defense. What is certain is that she attempted to clean up the scene, waited 11 hours before calling 911, and lied about him having a heart attack—even though police would see that this situation was going to be a lot more paperwork.
Danielle told the dispatcher:
“We had an altercation and he stabbed himself and I ran into the bathroom and then I came out and I tried to help him and I saw that he was lying (in) blood.”
Even though the prosecution’s witness testimony depicted Danielle as the problem in the relationship and pushed that this was second-degree murder, the jury thought otherwise. However, it couldn’t be denied that she tampered with evidence.
On that charge, she will return to court on August 5, 2022, for sentencing. Redlick posted the $15,000 bond ordered by the court at 10:30 PM.
