Maxwell Jacob Freidman got the pro wrestling world buzzing with his pipe bomb promo on June 1’s AEW Dynamite episode, and Chris Jericho has thrown in his thoughts and it has many saying “Tell me it’s a work without telling me it is.”
While reports have said the reaction to the AEW backstage seemed to be along the lines of them now knowing the promo was a work, there may be no denying it now.
Of course, with this looking more and more like an elaborate work, there’s always the chance it’s legitimate since it’s been reported the show’s not scripted as much as the wrestlers are given bullet points and fill in the rest themselves.
For the record @AEW is the best sports entertainment company I’ve ever worked for & @TonyKhan is the best boss I’ve done business with. If certain talents feel they’re under compensated, maybe ur not as good as u think u are. Go elsewhere PLEASE. You’ll be begging to come back!

Taking it up a notch
“For the record @AEW is the best sports entertainment company I’ve ever worked for & @TonyKhan is the best boss I’ve done business with. If certain talents feel they’re under compensated, maybe ur not as good as u think u are. Go elsewhere PLEASE. You’ll be begging to come back!”
Chris Jericho’s comments came at an interesting time as he’s hinted at keeping a good relationship with Vince McMahon, and if this is legitimate, that could put than in danger.
Putting that aside, Jericho’s scathing comment makes sense given he and MJF had a falling out a bit back (storyline) when there was a power struggle in the Inner Circle and their relationship never recovered.
But there’s another reason, and it plays into MJF’s promo and anger toward WWE stars coming to AEW and being paid more than him.

MJF hit the mark and got a lot of cheers despite being one of the best heels in the business today. Arguably the best part of the promo was when he stopped beating around the bush and went for Kahn.
Special thanks to wrestlinginc.com for the following transcript.
“I am a generational talent and you people consistently take me for granted, but it’s not just you… It’s the big man in the back too. Here’s something you guys can’t take for granted. Here’s something he doesn’t want you to know. Do you guys know, who the second biggest minute-for-minute draw is in this entire company? Nope! You wish… IT’S ME! It’s me! And if you don’t believe me, do me a favor – ask Stat Boy Tony in the back and see, what he’s got to say… But whatever you do, don’t ask him to reach into his pockets and pay the man who’s been busting his ass for him since day one! No, no, no, no, no, no! Make sure he hoards all that money… Make sure he hoards all that money, so he can give it to all the new ex-WWE guys he keeps bringing in.”
Jericho is the GOAT and has been gold on the mic more times than not, and as a former WWE star it’s safe to say he’ll probably be part of the feud with MJF as MJF pushes toward facing CM Punk for the AEW Championship.
