Fans have absolutely slammed Alicia Keys for her performance at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee party.
FANS SLAM Alicia Keys For DISRESPECTING The Queen With Her Platinum Jubilee Performance-‘Maybe Choose Another Song’
Alicia may be one of the biggest musicians in the world, but not everybody seemed to comprehend her latest performance. In the video here, we can see that she is belting out the notes to one of her hit songs ‘Empire State of Mind.’
The crowd is clearly on board with the performance, as they can be seen cheering and swaying from side to side. Not only that, but her vocals are on point.
This song first came to attention with the help of Jay Z, who featured on this number one US billboard track. And yet, people began to question the nature of the song particularly over whether it was appropriate for the occasion.
This was based on the fact that the lyrics were talking about New York, whereas Alicia was in London for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. And that is something that the fans could not get their heads around.
One person wrote: “Why is Alicia Keys singing about how amazing New York City is at an event to celebrate the Queen? Maybe choose another song?”
While another person stated: “Ahh yes. Because nothing says #PlatinumJubilee than Alicia Keys (who I do adore) singing about New York.” Just when you thought that was bad enough, Alicia ended up shooting herself in the foot.
Once she recognised that her lyrics were not appropriate for the occasion, she decided to change the location of New York and replace it with London.
Although it made the track resonate with those attending, the very fact of the matter is that this gaffe did not go unnoticed. Another user stated: “Not Alicia Keys changing ‘now you’re in New York’ to ‘now you’re in London.”
This was clearly not Alicia’s finest moment, and perhaps she should prepare herself better next time around. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
