Financial analyst, Jasmine Birtles claims that Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee celebration is expected to attract billions of pounds to a dwindling UK economy. Republican groups had beforehand claimed that the festivities would further destroy the economy as firms would close shop and taxpayers would bankroll the major events over the celebration. However, the financial expert believes otherwise. She says that the Platinum Jubilee celebrations will help the economy by getting more people to visit and spend money on food and lodging.
In a recent chat with GB News, Ms. Birtles said, “If you are spending millions and you are getting billions back, I do agree and I do think you get billions, yes, it probably is worth it.” The financial analyst also debunked claims by republican groups that the UK has lost £345 billion to the royals.
Financial Analyst Claims That The Queen’s Royal Jubilee Will Give The UK Economy A Much-Needed Boost
Ms Birtles said, “I’m not sure how they worked that out. Whether you think it is worth it culturally is a whole other thing. When it comes to the business, the brand, it does do well for GB limited, frankly.” The financial expert even suggested that the United Kingdom would lose a lot of money if the monarchy was scrapped.
She chimed in, “I’ve heard from American friends, and of course they adore and can’t get enough of the Royals, they said that without the Royal Family there wouldn’t be so much of a reason to come to Britain. Britain wouldn’t be so much on the map.”
However, Ms. Birtles also claimed that Great Britain is not fighting to reduce royal expenditure, but rather, people are only clamoring for an interpretation of how the funds are spent. She said, “I think what I would like to see and what a few people would like to see, is more transparency about where this money is going.
I think we would like to know if this particular royal is getting X amount and a lot of people wouldn’t like that particular royal, whereas everybody loves the queen, everybody thinks she should have as much as possible.” It was previously disclosed in the 2021 budget by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak that £28 million would be mobilised to bankroll the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee festivities.
