Johnny Depp’s career is heating up once again following his huge defamation trial win against Amber Heard. Now that Depp has proven to the court and to the public that he did not domestically abuse his ex-wife, the demand to hire him has soared…and Disney is desperately trying to win him back as Captain Jack Sparrow for the sixth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film.
Disney notoriously distanced themselves from Depp after Amber Heard falsely accused him of abusing her during their tumultuous relationship. After callously dropping him from the popular franchise, there had been discussions of re-casting the next ‘Pirates’ film with Margot Robbie as the star.
Johnny Depp Set To Return To ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ After Disney Offers $301 Million Deal And An Apology Following Big Win Against Amber Heard
But now that Johnny Depp has restored his reputation his career is set to be thriving, and Disney has reportedly offered him a substantial sum of money to get back in his good graces. According to a source, Disney has offered Depp a whopping $301 million contract to return to the franchise, as well as a groveling apology after terminating the actor when was wrongfully accused of abuse by Heard.
The insider also claims that Depp is also in talks to star in another project on the Disney Plus streaming app, revealing, “he deal is reportedly for Johnny Depp to return as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and a spin-off Disney Plus series about the early life of the Captain of The Black Pearl.”
The source sounded confident in the supposed deal, saying, “What I can tell you is that the studio has already penned up a draft for a film about Jack Sparrow so they are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character.’
Along with a very generous payday, Disney has offered to make a ‘sizable donation’ to the charity of Depp’s choice as a ‘sign of goodwill.’ During the defamation trial, Johnny Depp revealed to the jury that he had no desire to work with Disney again after they had ditched him when Heard’s accusations first came to light. Depp said that Disney executives had already decided that he was a monster and he felt ‘guilty until proven innocent’.
Not only was Depp’s reputation severely sullied after Amber Heard defamed him, but he became virtually unemployable and his legal team claimed that he lost a staggering $22 million in earnings due to her reckless accusations. It’s safe to assume that a large chunk of that payday would have been from Disney, as the ‘Pirates’ films have proven to be massively profitable.
Whether or not Johnny Depp is willing to accept Disney’s offer remains to be seen, but returning to the big screen as Captain Jack Sparrow could be the best way to reclaim the top spot as one of Hollywood’s most elite actors, while simultaneously offering a giant middle finger to Amber Heard for trying, and failing, to sink his career.
