Amber Heard just may find herself at the center of another defamation lawsuit after she doubled down on Johnny Depp abuse claims during a recent interview with Savannah Guthrie. The shamed actress, who was already found guilty of defamation and was ordered to pay her ex-husband $8.35 million in damages, can’t seem to keep quiet about her massive loss against Depp and has even reiterated her claims that the actor abused her during their relationship.
The wise thing to do after being publicly humiliated and proven a liar on a national scale would be to keep a low profile, but Amber Heard is doing the exact opposite. During the bombshell interview, Heard branded Depp a ‘liar’ and insisted that the verdict was ‘unfair’. She also emphasized that Depp is a ‘fantastic actor’ who was able to successfully manipulate the opinion of the jury as well as the public. “He said he never hit you. Is that a lie?” asked Gunthrie, to which Heard responded, “Yes it is. To my dying day, I will stand by every word of my testimony.”
Johnny Depp Could Sue Amber Heard AGAIN After She Doubles Down On Abuse Claims In New Interview
In a bid to paint herself as the victim, Heard told Gunthrie that she suffered immensely as the trial went on. “Every single day I passed three, four, sometimes six city blocks lined with people holding signs saying ‘Burn the Witch,’ ‘Death to Amber.” After three and a half weeks, I took the stand and saw a courtroom packed full of Captain Jack Sparrow fans who were vocal, energized”. “It’s a freedom to speak truth to power, and that’s alI I spoke. I spoke it to power and I paid the price.”
Heard continued her scathing rant against Johnny Depp, saying, “When you’re living in violence and it becomes normal, as I testified to, you have to adapt”. At one point she even referred to Depp as her ‘abuser’ as she claimed that revealing audio tapes that were submitted to the court by Depp’s team as evidence were “evidence of a negotiation of how to talk about that with your abuser.”
While freedom of speech is certainly a right of every American, lying and slandering someone’s reputation after they have already been ruled innocent in the court of law is a considerable offense, and Johnny Depp will have the opportunity to pursue his legal options against her once again. Entertainment lawyer Nicole Haff offered her professional opinion on the matter, and revealed how Heard’s harsh and hasty comments could result in her getting hit with a lawsuit by Johnny Depp for a third time.
“Yes. This interview could count as a new ‘publication’ under the law, which could spur a third lawsuit,” explained the attorney. Hoff also noted that “Heard’s lawyers have already stated that she cannot pay the original judgment,” making it less than likely that he would receive any financial compensation from another lawsuit. But much like with his previous $50 million case against Heard, Johnny Depp isn’t looking for money – he wants redemption. If that means taking Amber Heard back to court to show that she is on a slander spree against him, we’re sure that his lawyer Camille Vasquez will have no qualms against squaring up against the notorious liar once again.
