Master Wato & Ryusuke Taguchi are no longer the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. They lost the belt last night to United Empire, with TJP & Francesco Akira now holding the gold. We’ll see the fallout of this here in this six man tag team match, as Jado joins the former champs as they take on the UE trio with Aaron Henare joining his champion pals, ahead of his first run in the G1 Climax next month.
United Empire Are Looking Unstoppable
With no one to match the power of Henare on their team, Jado would quickly try and help Wato & Taguchi scheme on taking him down. However, United Empire would get the jump on them and start this one with a brawl. Wato & Akira were left in the ring, where Wato took the upper hand with some kicks and running hurricanrana.
Springboard uppercut was spoiled by TJP, who yanked Wato face first to the apron. Akira nailed the dive to the floor, but hitting the Electric Chair Senton alongside TJP in the ring. TJP would lock in the Muta Lock, but Wato was able to get the bottom rope. Henare tagged in, and nailed a clubbing blow to the spine before chucking Wato across the ring.
Wato would find himself isolated in the United Empire corner, before landing some swift kicks and a backbreaker to get an opening for the tag. Taguchi would hit some hip attacks, getting a two count on TJP. Team Six or Nine would hit a drop toehold into double dropkick, before Akira would rush the ring for a combo kick with TJP.
Taguchi hit a double DDT, and tagged in Jado. Henare would meet him in the center of the ring for some lariats, before a three on one exchange of fast strikes took him down into the OJK. Henare would survive and apply the Full Nelson, getting the victory.
Los Ingobernables de Japón Are Back To Full Power
Kazuchika Okada thought he would carry the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship all the way through 2022 after winning it at Wrestle Kingdom 16, but Jay White shut him down. Now, he is trying to refocus as the G1 Climax approaches. Tonight, Okada leads Kosei Fujuita, Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Togi Makabe into battle against some familiar foes, Los Ingobernables de Japón. With SANADA back, L.I.J is back to full power – with Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi & BUSHI backing him up tonight.
Fujita would start off fast, beating Shingo into a corner before everyone took turns running in with elbow smashes. Boston Crab was applied, but Shingo was able to fight his way free. Fujita would run in for the shoulder tackle, before Shingo ran him down with ease. Elbow drop would follow, before BUSHI tagged in. Some quick attacks would be followed by Naito tagging in and applying the neck lock.
Fujita would fight free and launch off a series of dropkicks, but was unable to make the tag. BUSHI applied the Boston Crab, and Okada made the save. Things broke down into a brawl, but Fujita could not tag out. BUSHI took him back down, and would submit him with the Boston crab. After the bell, they took turns stretching Fujita, adding insult to injury.
