Already we know half of the entrants in the match to crown the first ever AEW All-Atlantic Champion. PAC defeated Buddy Matthews, and Miro defeated Ethan Page. Tonight, Tomohiro Ishii meets Clark Connors to find out the sole NJPW entrant in this match set for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Ishii defeated a very game Yoshinobu Kanemaru last night to advance, and Connors took down the veteran Tomoaki Honma. Now tonight, they will meet one on one, and only one man will be on his way to the Forbidden Door with a chance at making history.
Clark Connors Won’t Back Down
Connors would start but rushing into Ishii, starting a battle of shoulder tackles. This would quickly turn into forearm smashes, before Connors would run Ishii down with the shoulder tackle. Arm would be grabbed on the mat, before Connors rained down some heavy elbow smashes.
Ishii would fight back up to his feet, and would run down Connors with a leaping shoulder tackle. Connors would try and strike his way back, and would send Ishii flying with the Jeep Flip. Spear in the corner was followed by the Belly to Belly Suplex, before a snap elbow drop.
Ishii would counter a suplex attempt, before a wild flurry of elbows and chops in the corner. Connors would stand in the middle of the ring and trade chops with Ishii, before dropping him with a lariat. Diving elbow drop would follow, getting a two count.
Tomohiro Ishii Puts The Wild Rhino Down
Spear would follow, before Connors would line Ishii up for another. He’d be sent past Ishii and into the corner, before he’d run into a hard knee to the midsection. German Suplex would see Connors fight back to his feet, before Ishii hit a powerbomb and heavy lariat for a near fall.
Connors would dodge an enziguri and hit the German Suplex, before another spear would land. Wild Rhino would hit a measured spear out of the corner, before a snap powerslam. Trophy Kill would be blocked twice, before Ishii took a slap to the jaw and fired back with a lariat. Vertical Drop Brainbuster would follow, and this one was over. Ishii moves forward to Forbidden Door.
