Queen Elizabeth II has been slammed after reports that she will be hosting a party for Prince William’s upcoming 40th birthday in the summer.

This criticism arrives in response to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent trip to the UK in order to attend Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
During the course of that process, Prince William and Kate Middleton had not attended Lilibet’s birthday party despite having been invited.
In addition, given that the monarch had reportedly banned Harry and Meghan from taking pictures of her meeting with Lilibet, the fact that the Queen is now in a mood to host a joint party for William (including Kate) has been questioned.
A sourced confirmed the party: “[The Queen wants to] celebrate their landmark birthdays in style.” Nevertheless, this did not go down very well for the following reasons.
First of all, the UK visit was equally a landmark for Harry and Meghan as it was the first time for the Royal family to meet Lilibet in person. And given that it was her first birthday, there was arguably grounds for the monarch to show the same passion that she is doing now.
Secondly, as Harry and Meghan may not return to the UK again, the fact she is pulling out all the stops has drawn criticism. This is particularly due to the timing of it, irrespective of the fact that the date of William’s birthday is not in her control.
And this was reflected in the comments that followed on social media. A certain proportion of fans slammed the Queen for her hypocritical behaviour.
This was on the grounds that Buckingham Palace refused to publish the findings of Meghan’s bullying inquiry. And by going ahead with a party, like nothing had happened despite questions looming over the contents of the inquiry, it was seen in poor taste.
One person wrote: “Release the report,” while another person stated: “I don’t give a duck about them. This man trying to crucify Meghan makes me sick . It’s all bulls**t.”
