According to Vivica A. Fox, Jada Smith‘s statement on Wednesday’s Red Table Talk where she spoke about the Oscars slap incident was “self-righteous.” Fox made this observation known on The Wendy Williams show, Thursday episode.

The 57-year-old actress expressed that speaking on the issue was going to be “difficult” because she has worked with both Jada and Will Smith. “I’ve done a movie with both of them. Set It Offwith Jada and Independence Day with Will Smith.” She however added honestly that when she saw the video of Jada’s talk it “made me cry.”

Fox then spoke about how everyone, including herself rooted for Will on the said night but his “career took a crumble.” Speaking about how Jada had a role in what happened, she said, “Will Smith was defending her honor, that’s the reason he walked on stage and slapped because he felt his wife had been offended so for me to see no accountability as a partner…”
Also stating that she loved the Smiths and watched their kids grow up, all she wished was for “just a little more accountability and for it to not seem so self-righteous on Jada’s part and that’s my feelings.”
On the Red Table Talk, Jada said she hoped that her husband and Chris Rock “have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile.” Also adding that the world needed them but “until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years-—figuring out this thing called life together.”
Following the incident where Will slapped Rock for his “expensive” joke, he publicly apologized to the comedian stating that his reaction was based on emotions because the joke was “too much for me to bear.” He went on to resign from the Academy before he was banned from future events for 10 years. It was also revealed last month that the King Richard star had traveled to India for spiritual purposes, to practice yoga and meditation.
