Last week we would see a shocking title change, when Swerve In Our Glory would be able to take the AEW World Tag Team Championships away from The Young Bucks, with Team Taz also in the mix. Tonight, they get a chance to celebrate their victory – and perhaps see who is going to step up as their first challengers.
Swerve In Our Glory Celebrate The Biggest Win Of Their AEW Careers
They had a cake and some bubbly ready for this celebration, perhaps provided by ‘Le Champion himself. Swerve invited rap superstar Kevin Gates to the show. Lee would express his eternal thanks, not just to Swerve – but to all the AEW fans who cheered them on. They appreciate the fans because with their help, they made it to the top of the tag team division.
A message to the competition – if you want to claim the belts, you better reach up and grab them. Mark Sterling & Tony Nese would come to the ring with the People Against Swerve Strickland petition almost complete! When they get enough signatures, they can get Swerve removed – and they wanted Kevin Gates to sign, but he refused.
Nese would have to defend Sterling, as Swerve slipped behind Sterling. Gates hit the suckerpunch, and Sterling got a face full of cake. What a celebration for the new champions!
Christian Cage Comes Face To Face With Jungle Boy
Christian Cage has been an absolute menace lately in AEW, and with Jungle Boy still on the mend – he’s turned Luchasaurus on the path of trying to destroy the Varsity Blonds. Last week, Griff Garrison was crushed in a singles match, while Christian tore apart Brian Pillman Jr. on the microphone, saying it’s a shame that his fathers lasting legacy in this industry is a letdown of a son.
Pillman would start the match by charging into a headbutt from Luchasaurus, before being tossed to the corner for the tag. Garrison would nail some rolling elbows, before a superkick from Pillman. All of these would barely stagger Luchasaurus, who would respond with some chokeslams.
Garrison was slammed onto the back of Pillman, and Christian entered the match to just get the pinfall win. Following the match, the music of Jungle Boy would hit – and he was back – with a steel chair in hand. Luchasarus would stand in the way of Jungle Boy, but would stand by his longtime partner. Christian Cage was run out of the arena – and Jurassic Express seems to be on the same page!
