Serena Deeb was a bit lost following Double or Nothing, when she failed to take the AEW World Women’s Championship away from Thunder Rosa. However, on AEW Dark – she was able to form a tag team with ROH Women’s World Champion, Mercedes Martinez. Is this a friendship, or is Deeb just looking to get back into the championship hunt ahead of ROH Death Before Dishonor? We will find out as they enter the ring for tag team action tonight.
Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland Joining Forbidden Door Card
Before this match, we’d hear from Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland. They might have not been on the same page lately, and have another chance this Sunday at Forbidden Door.
Just added to that card is El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru of the Suzuki-gun faction, taking on Lee & Swerve. A win there could help them get back on track, before they lock up with Team Taz members Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs.
Mercedes Martinez & Serena Deeb Crush Competition In Tag Team Clash – Tully Blanchard Issues Warning
Deeb would start things off with Sierra, and quickly lock in the abdominal stretch. Layne Luck got a tag after Sierra broke free, before Mercedes Martinez hit the Spinebuster. Deeb tagged back in and applied the Indian Deathlock, before Sierra was slammed onto her.
Luck would make the crawl to the ropes, before taking some heavy shots in the corner from Martinez. Running dropkick would be followed by a suplex onto the ropes. Martinez applied the Brass City Sleeper, and this one was over just like that. There was an issue with Martinez elbowing Deeb, and that might be an issue.
ROH Rumblings Between Matches
After the match, we’d hear from Tully Blanchard. He’s got a new faction, with Kaun, Toa, and Brian Cage. Three top heavyweight names, all of which are ready to destroy all put in front of them. Originally marked as an ROH faction, they might instead be coming to wreck shop in AEW.
Also from ROH, Jonathan Gresham & Lee Moriarty would speak. Gresham is the ROH World Champion, and Moriarty was fixing for a title shot. Tully would interrupt, and say his boys deserve the shot more. Gresham asked for a tag team match, and this was accepted.
HOOK Remains Undefeated
If HOOK was part of the NJPW roster, he’d be one of the top students in the Young Lion system. However, instead he would train under Cody Rhodes & QT Marshall at the Nightmare Factory, and has some extra coaching from his father Taz. Tonight, he gets to test his skills against a student of the NJPW LA Dojo in The D.K.C – who has been busy training under Katsuyori Shibata.
HOOK would get the single leg takeodown into the kneebar, and DKC got the ropes. DKC threw some heavy strikes, before being chucked across the ring. HOOK would take some ridge hand chops to the face, and HOOK was feeling these strikes. A drop step into the El Camino Suplex would follow, before some crossface strikes. REDRUM applied, this one was over.
Should HOOK get a TNT title shot soon? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
