My 600-Lb Life fans have been wondering what happened to Ashley Randall after she appeared on the inaugural season of the show in 2012. She had one of the most heart-breaking stories on the show. Ashley garnered fans’ sympathy and support, and they wished that she’d be able to overcome her challenges and reach her weight loss goals. Sadly, her weight loss journey ended in 2021.
Although the 24-year-old weighed 617 pounds, she wasn’t the heaviest during her episode but her young age made her vulnerable to gaining more weight before clocking 30 years and she was greatly concerned. She revealed that she lost her father, who was one of her biggest supporters to cancer.
UPDATE On Ex Cast Member, Ashley Randall
His death made her lonely and isolated, and she turned to food for comfort. Her mom was the opposite of her father, and while she didn’t enable her, her toxicity and unkind words hurt Ashley during her weight loss journey. A Redditor, u/Stolovich, said that, “There is no greater wound that can be inflicted in a child than to not have their mother’s love and acceptance. Her mom had no idea how truly hostile and mean-spirited those harsh remarks about Ashley’s weight were.” They continued, “How healthy is someone going to be who believes that their mother doesn’t love them?”
Despite all odds, Ashley lost almost 400 pounds, and at the end of her time on the show, she weighed 253 pounds. Viewers were inspired by her weight loss journey and they think she was on the fast track to being approved for the weight-loss surgery on her legs.
Fans were disappointed when she later returned for a special My 600-Lb Life: Where Are They Now? episode in 2015 and learned that she had stopped being active in Dr. Now’s weight loss program and she had even added weight at 312 pounds. Unfortunately, Ashley passed away on October 2, 2021, at 40. Ashley died after her body became septic. The TLC star had been fighting a terrible infection, which caused her death and had even caught pneumonia while at the hospital.
