Meghan Markle’s biographer Omid Scobie has recalled the moment that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s influence declined in the US.
William And Kate’s US Popularity Has Declined-‘Desperate For PR Boost Amid Meghan And Prince Harry’s US Limelight’
This revelation arrives as the pair get ready to visit the US in December for the Earthshot Prize. While Prince Harry and Meghan have generated a lot of talking points in the US, the clamour surrounding William and Kate has been on the decline.
And at a time where the influence of the Royal family has been declining due to the rise in anti-monarchy sentiments, this is not a good look.
In the comments, Omid said: “The excitement and curiosity for the pair waned. With births and many of life’s major milestones checked off the list, they slowly became a tougher sell to audiences.
“It’s why there were no US media outlets on the couple’s recent tour of the Caribbean.” If these comments are taken to be true, then it is very significant for the following reasons.
First of all, it would demonstrate that William and Kate’s international appeal is dwindling. This was seen during the couple’s last royal tour in the Caribbean.
The pair were very heavily slammed on the international stage, while the domestic response was not great, as the taxpayer questioned the sum spent on the tour.
Secondly, if William and Kate are not well received in the US, will they change their approach towards Harry and Meghan? The fans on social media had a lot to say about this.
A certain subset of people felt that William and Kate were desperate for a PR rebrand in the States. One person wrote: “Prince William & Kate ‘desperate’ for PR boost amid Meghan and Prince Harry’s US limelight.”
Time will tell if William and Kate have a positive influence in the US, but based on what we have seen so far, it is anyone’s guess. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
