The singer is guilty of sex trafficking and sexually harassing women, including minors. As a sentence, he gets 30 years in prison. Additionally to that, when he is released from prison, or better if he gets released, he will have five years under maximum supervision. Authorities reveal that while in prison, the singer will need to receive treatment for an ‘unspecified sexual disorder’.
Judge Ann M. Donelly is strict and without any tolerance, or sympathy for the people she delivers verdicts to. She states that after his release 30 years from now, the 80-year-old Kelly must avoid all contact with minors. This is unless the minor is in a company of a close family member.
R. Kelly To Get Sexual Disorder Treatment In Prison – In 30 Years He Will Have Time To Rethink Everything
He will remain under close supervision after his release and if he is seen in a presence of another sex offender he will be returned to jail. He can only meet minors and ‘fellow’ sex offenders in a presence of a police officer, or with an officer’s approval.
The prosecutor did not have anything good, or positive to say for persons such as R.Kelly. They simply refer to them as menaces to society. The worst part in this trial or the worst part of R.Kelly is that he is a known sexual offender even before this trial.
The singer has been standing trials several times before this. And even after being in the courtroom so many times for the same thing, he doesn’t change his behavior. Quite on the contrary, it is like the trials fuel his will to repeat the same crime again and again.
The judge makes it clear that this label that Kelly now has will stay for life. When R.Kelly exits prison at 80, he will need to inform whoever chooses to live with him that he is a sex offender.
“You took advantage of their hopes and dreams, holding teenagers in your house trap. Furthermore, you were at the top of your organization and you raped and beat them, separated them from their families, and forced them to do unspeakable things.” – Judge Ann says when delivering the verdict. “You taught them that love is enslavement and violence.”
R.Kelly is a man with many crimes behind him. He is still facing one additional federal trial and two state trials. What this means is that the judges might add more restrictions and more years in prison to his sentence. He might not exit prison at all. And frankly, this is what sex offenders deserve. Especially if there is involvement of minors in their case.
