We’re just a few weeks away from the second Ring of Honor PPV of the year. After the success of Supercard of Honor under the eyes of new owner Tony Khan – it was only a matter of time before we’d see another PPV come around. Death Before Dishonor was officially announced last night on AEW Dynamite, with two matches announced – and one teased. FTR would call out The Briscoes for a rematch of their five star classic from Supercard of Honor.
The Briscoes Are Finally Coming To AEW TV?
Now, The Briscoes have accepted this rematch offer. This all came as a bit of a surprise to fans, as WarnerMedia – who hosts all the TV programming of AEW had previously noted that they had no interest in having the ROH hall of famers even mentioned on AEW programming. This was due to homophobic comments made in the past by Jay Briscoe.
Therefore, after Supercard of Honor – The Briscoes would go to Impact Wrestling instead of AEW, having a brief reign as Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions, before losing the belts back to The Good Brothers. This might have been a sign that something was going on, and Tony Khan might have finally found a way to bring the legendary tag team into the mix of AEW.
With the build for Death Before Dishonor happening on AEW TV, it’s likely we will see The Briscoes appear in some form in the following weeks. They could show up and get some tag team wins, or even just send in a pre-taped promo ahead of their challenge for the ROH World Tag Team Champions. If they’re able to beat FTR, it’ll be even more obvious that we will be seeing more of them in AEW – and they could even be put into plans for The Young Bucks vs. FTR match planned for AEW All Out.
Right now, the announced matches for Death Before Dishonor also include Daniel Garcia vs. Wheeler Yuta for the ROH Pure Championship, and Jay Lethal vs. Samoa Joe for the ROH World Television Championship.
