The war in Ukraine is still raging with full force. There are bodies all over the country. But, amidst all of it, President Volodymyr Zelensky arranges a photo shoot with his wife in the ruins of his country.
The photoshoot took place in Kyiv, the capital of the country, where several ruined places could be found such as the airport. And of course, Zelensky chose this to be the location for the photoshoot.
Volodymyr Zelensky’s Very Unserious Photoshoot Amidst War Raging In Ukraine
The photo shoot is in the organization of Vogue Magazine, one of the world’s top monthly fashion and lifestyle magazines. In the photos, the president appears next to his wife, Olena Zelenska, in some cringe poses. According to worldwide critics, this is viewed as nothing more than an unserious and frivol step by the head of the country.
Vogue Magazine publishes the photos under the title “Portrait of bravery: Ukraine’s first lady, Olena Zelenska”. The photos are taken in a compilation of ruined locations throughout the city, including the Kyiv Airport.
The magazine includes photos as well as a long interview with Ukraine’s first lady. She tells all about how she passes the days in the time of war. Furthermore, she speaks about how she manages to keep the marriage alive by unconditionally supporting the president in his endeavor to save the country from the tyrant. She goes on and shares her vision for Ukraine after the war is over.
The official account of Ukraine’s ministry of defense shared the cover photo of the magazine, featuring the first lady Olena on Twitter. “The First Couple of Ukraine. Look closer at their faces. Pain, courage… and determination to win.”
However, the people of Ukraine and the world in general did not accept this as the Ministry of Defense did. The photoshoot released an avalanche of comments and controversy by people from all around the world. The world is judging this photoshoot as cringe. It is not the right location, and moreover the right time for such photoshoot to take place. Instead of supporting the soldiers and standing with them in this time of suffering and bloodshed, the president takes place in a photo shoot for a fashion magazine.
Yes, the article is about the first lady. But the sole fact that Volodymyr had the time to appear in the photos says much about his determination to end the war. Zelensky wearing his recognizable green t-shirt, acting as a ‘soldier’, while people see nothing more than a photo model.
The Ukrainian people now need the president’s support more than ever. Instead of preoccupying himself with such unproductive stuff, maybe he should put to use the money sent to Ukraine by other countries. He should work day and night to end the war as soon as possible. Or is this maybe a war of the media only?
“Why did we send $54 billion to Ukraine, so Zelensky & his wife could pose for Vogue? You’re at war & you’ve got time for photo shoots?” – one Twitter user says.
“This does not seem like a good idea for them. To pose in a magazine when people are dying daily in their country.” – another one adds.
