Thunder Rosa has been AEW Women’s World Champion for a while now, but faces her hardest hitting challenger yet tonight. After a recent tag team match on AEW Dynamite ended with Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter on the winning side, Hayter would finally get a chance to step up and challenge for the top singles title in the women’s division. This has been a long time coming, and fans are excited to not just see her play second fiddle to Britt Baker tonight – and perhaps see her reach her full potential.
Jamie Hayter Starts With The Pre-Match Attack
Thunder Rosa would have Toni Storm in her corner tonight, while Hayter had both Britt Baker & Rebel. Hayter would waste no time getting the jump on Rosa, attacking her during the entrance – and choking her in the corner with the boot. Baker would get some cheap shots in as referee Aubrey Edwards would scold Hayer.
Rosa would be thrown with a snap suplex, before Hayter nailed a big shoulder tackle. Some quick dropkicks from Rosa would follow, sending Hayter to the outside – only for Hayter to block a dive with a punch to the face. Hayter would hit the suplex on the floor, and would hit the backbreaker on the steel steps.
Storm would give Rosa a prep talk, and any advice could be useful in the middle of a beating like this. Rosa would get some quick strikes in the ring, before taking the Machine Gun chops in the corner from Hayter. Satoshi Kojima would be proud of Hayter in that one, and the rear chinlock would be applied.
Thunder Rosa Remains Champion After Tough Fight – Hayter Suffers Injury?
Rosa would fight free, before trading strikes in the middle of the ring with Hayter. Northern Lights Suplex would get the champion a two count, before Hayter would take a wicked dropkick to the face. A cannonball senton would follow to the floor, with Rosa finally in control after that exchange.
The diving crossbody in the ring would follow, before Hayter hit the backbreaker for a two count. Sheerdrop Brainbuster would follow, before Baker would choke Rosa in the corner. Storm would make the save and brawl it out with Rosa, before taking a superkick and coming back with a DDT.
Hayter would get distracted and caught with a roll up for the finish. Had Hayter not taken her eyes off the champion, she might have been able to walk away from tonight as champion.
Following this match, Jamie Hayter would reportedly be taken to hospital with a broken nose. It’s unclear if she will be out for long – but we can only hope for a fast recovery. Will Jamie Hayter get another title shot? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
